    About PJ Adams

PJ Adams likes exploring intoxicating travel and the psychology of human nature. With a background in publishing and psychotherapy and a keen interest in guiding and inspiring others, the evolution to crafting works of fiction and nonfiction travel seemed inevitable.

Intoxicating Paris and Intoxicating Southern France are the first in a series of travel books designed to explore the beauty, adventure, cuisines, wine, and people of the specific regions through the lens of a therapist who loves to talk to people and learn about their lives and their lifestyles. Filled with anecdotes, stories, and cultural history, these books are both guidebooks and memoirs.

It seems there is always a motivation for behavior. And there are ways for behavior to be motivated. Self-help books are designed to inspire individuals to maximize their potential as human beings. The Letters series is designed to do just that. The first in the series, Daughter Wisdom, was created to assist daughters of all ages to navigate the complexities of modern womanhood. Later books in the series will focus on ideas to inspire sons, mothers, and fathers as well.

Freud's Revenge, the initial work in PJ's series of psychology-based suspense novels, focuses on human nature in another way. Human beings sometimes strive to meet their needs through crimial means. In criminal behavior, an individual's needs become so paramount that those requirements override the natural human inclination for compassion and connection with others. Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, Alfred Adler, and many others have tried to put a framework around human behavior so that it could be understood, probed, and altered.

Freud's Revenge uses the ideas of Sigmund Freud to understand the pathology of Freudian crime. PJ's next two crime thrillers will use the ideas of Carl Jung, dream and archetypal therapist, to explore the use of dreams and archetypes in modern crime, and Alfred Adler, birth order expert, to sift the wherefores of youth crime through the perspectives of inferiority/superiority dynamics and birth order.

When not writing, doing psychotherapy or speaking at various organizations and libraries, PJ enjoys learning French, watching films, traveling to faraway places, reading, and growing edibles in the garden. Favorite authors include John Updike, Jonathan Kellerman, Sarah Dunant, John Bradshaw, David Downie, Jane Austen, and Agatha Christie.
