    Brains vs. Bones

Two members of the PJ Adams Books team have come up with some cool ideas for the Amanda Carlisle mystery series. Ashley Regan suggested Amanda is like Temperance Brennan in the Bones tv show, so we should give Amanda Carlisle a nickname too: Brains. TV producers, are you listening??? PR Director John Birkhead added that unlike Bones, who does skeletal forensics, Amanda does mental forensics. Now that's using your smarts! Any other great ideas out there???

    Bones & Casey Anthony

Author and Forensic Anthropologist Kathy Reichs has released a new book this month featuring her BONES character, Temperance Brennan. I love the character and of course the forensics are stunning. More fascinating, however, is that Reichs ALSO announced that she has been hired by the Casey Anthony defense team to study the remains of her murdered daughter, Caylee Anthony. I am guessing this is for a civil suit or something else in the works. When pressed by the interviewer, Reichs defended her hiring by the defense team saying something like, "I am not for the prosecution or the defense. I am for the victim." In my opinion it sounds a lot like she may think Casey is NOT guilty of the child's murder. Something to ponder...

Oslo Killings & Amy Winehouse's Sad Departure

At this posting, more than 90 people have died as a result of a Norwegian man's misguided actions. Likewise, the talented, tormented Amy Winehouse who passed today leaves behind her a body of brilliant music and a bitter legacy of questionable choices.

In both cases, the individuals acted out their needs in destructive ways. As detailed in Freud's Revenge, the destructive urge can sometimes override common, rational thought. And the result can be pain that ripples out to many, many others both near and far.

We are all connected, however. Mental Health--or Illness--impacts us all. Let us offer help to those in need, prayers for those we have lost, and compassion for those we may find most difficult to understand.

    Freud's Revenge

Freud's Revenge, a novel of crime and communion, is now available on Barnes & Noble's Nook!  In Freud's Revenge, the serene world of a quiet mental health clinic in Del Mar, California is devastated when a clinician is found dead from some kind of Freudian, psycho-sexual ritual. It will take surfer-turned-detective Nick Caswell and empath Amanda Carlisle to divine the identity of a nearly-invisible psychopath before he, she, or they can kill again.

What Others Say About Freud's Revenge:

Freud’s Revenge is a churning whodunit. It explores the Freudian dimensions of human development as they manifest in sane people acting insane and insane people acting sane. A smartly written mystery with enough twists and turns to keep readers guessing right to the end. A fun read.” (Tom Leech, author of Say It Like Shakespeare and On the Road in ‘68)
